Diabetes education comes in handy both for a diabetic patient and his caretakers. Since diabetes disease has to do with fluctuating sugar levels, there is a possibility for a patient to go into coma, or feel terribly fatigued. In such an event, diabetes education helps in overcoming the crisis temporarily. Diabetes education brings knowledge and awareness about the disease hence making it easier for the patient to be strict on the line of treatment to be followed. Various diabetes associations, diabetes communities, and other diabetes centres incorporate diabetes education as an important part of their services. Then there are some non-profit organisations involved in providing diabetes education to healthcare professionals to brush up their knowledge on diabetes. Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, and gestational diabetes represent the different types of diabetes prevailing now. The type 1 diabetes is when there is no insulin formed in the body for proper assimilation of sugar. The other Type 2 is prevalent amongst adults and happens when insulin is formed but is not enough or unable to function properly. Normally when blood sugar levels are slightly elevated a person is asked to follow diet and exercise regimen. Failing this if the blood sugar continues to remain elevated then diabetes medications in the form of pills or injection are prescribed.
